For nearly two decades, RAND has organized sessions on defense economics at the annual Western Economics Association International Conference. Topics covered in past defense economics sessions include outsourcing and privatization, performance measures and contract incentives, military and civilian employee benefits, recruiting and retention, demographics of military personnel, working capital funded activities, industrial base issues (such as globalization), acquisition, and resource allocation and budgeting. Our participants have come from public policy institutions, the service academies, DoD and other federal agencies, and universities.
 
 
ENSA was launched on January 5th, 2013 in San Diego at the American Economic Association meetings and is now accepting members.
